Classy and Modern Destination Wedding at Kimpton Shinjuku Tokyo | Mel & Jimmy
It’s always a dream to have a destination wedding. This time, in a special place, Tokyo.
I had the honor to photograph one of my besties, Mel, at her wedding in Tokyo. Mel wished that I could shoot some parts of her wedding as a memory, while the photo & video team from Kimpton would cover most of the event. Whenever there is more than one team of photographers, make sure to communicate with the teams clearly to ensure we work cohesively.
Mel looking absolutely stunning. It was emotional to see so much beauty and witness loving moments from friends and family.
There will be no short of stunning fresh flowers meticulously styled in Japan. It’s all about the details.
The getting ready and first look took place in the hotel room. It was simple and intimate. Mel wanted a relaxed morning, not needing to stress over complicated arrangements.
It was impressive that both Mel & her maid of honor could speak fluent Japanese, making it possible to communicate with the events team in Kimpton.
The beautiful location is one of the highlights of having a destination wedding. From the ceremony place to the dinner venue and the after party, we were spoilt by beautiful scenes everywhere.
The ceremony was very elegant and formal. The couple exchanged personal vows which is always the best idea and memory.
“We did it!”
It’s time for the dinner celebration
Mel & Jimmy had the chance of a first look of the dinner decoration before everyone comes in. I vividly recall that moment, Mel & Jimmy were absolutely mesmerised by the beauty.
I love the fact that the florist styled flowers in a way that is conscious to the environment.
This is probably one of her favourite moments.
I love that the team introduced this moment while the sun is setting, blending a little daylight into the candle lit scene. Just before the cityscape of Tokyo shows on the full length window in the venue.
Ready for march in! Changed into the second gown.
What a night! The night ended with a first dance and party (with the parents and kids too). Then the real after party. We enjoyed it so much and it was the best memories.
